Amber Road

Local Vienna, Austria 20190116

Northern Vienna, home to nice places like the Grelle Forelle, Das Werk, Unders, Battle Axe and the Local, where this Wednesday night a new band enters the stage for the very first time.

Since about a year, the group wrote songs and practiced, and now finally the moment has come to present what they have been up to for all the time to the public. Amber Road arose from the haze of the familiar of The Boy I Used To Be. Visiting the place at this night feels like a big family meeting, as it seems everyone knows each other somehow. And therefor the lovely small Local is completely crowded.

The band then starts their stage career with a very slight delay. The last few step inside, so the room is cosy from the front row back to the audio engineer and the bar area. Already the first tracks are impressive. The music is hard to describe but has got something of modern Blues Rock, maybe thinking of Jack White or similar. After the first two songs, the direction gets more Folk impact, going from Golden Reef to Mumford and Sons, but as well with a Pop approach like Kodaline – Indie Folk Rock the band entitles it themselves.

The guitars complement each other in a grandiose way, which gives the music and performance a round feeling. Singer Jan blazes with his strong voice, and few are sung by guitarist Sebi. Drummer Mathias takes it over to talk with the audience and scores with a winning smile while bassist Florian plays the most rousing and danceable lines. The announce the release of a very first record “Back In Time”, so the fans of this young formation don’t have to wait for the next gig to listen to their music.
