Transanimalism (EP 2024)
Anderwelt
Ambient Doom Post Metal
Someone once assumed, humanity is the lowest life form on earth. And arrogant on top. But would animals be wiser and more humble when they would be in charge of a new technology in a different world? Thoughts that are content of the EP „Transanimalism“ out on Electric Fire Records.
Music can transport the listener to another place, „draw them into an Anderwelt“, as the band explains. After „Schattenlichter“, „Trinity of Decay“ and „2084“, the epic Post Metal band from Linz illustrates a scenario on this two-track record, mastered at Pure Sound Recordings, distributed by Broken Silence Media and promoted by The Metallist PR.
According to their corporate identity, the cover artwork is held in shades of grey. In something that looks like a circuit diagram, the title of the second track is written, and below the name of the EP and first song „Transanimalism“. It starts with some finely plucked notes like Dool, In Flames or Seether.
The wind carries grey clouds, strings preserve the illusion of safety. Then the sky breaks loose, like a storm front, with power like Endonomos. Some clean vocals even add a Dark Gothic Rock touch, next to the rumbling bass and fine growls. Dynamics are important, and so the song builds up again and again like Crowbar.
After an extended outro, ambient like Darkspace or Russian Circles, „A+“ featuring Nana Falkner is the second song. The acoustic guitar with its pull-offs and strings converge and weave into each other to a soft carpet, carrying the voices. It is the perfect counterpart to the massive monolith of sound that is the title track.
Live, Anderwelt provide an out-of-body experience, like they did at Metal Escalation Festival. On 8th November, they will repeat their rite at Arena Wien together with Diamond Skull.
