Ernst Molden & Der Nino aus Wien

„Unser Österreich ff.“ at Wiener Konzerthaus – Mozartsaal, Austria 20251122

As the cold is creeping down the city and snow is falling, people are getting lively. The Heavy Lezzers present the Loud & Proud festival with likes of Lurch at fluc. In the afternoon, the demonstration ‚St. Marx für alle!‘ moves along the Ring. And in the evening, two local musical icons comment on everything with their song selection.

The core competency of Ernst Molden & Der Nino aus Wien is Austropop of the 1970s until the 1990s, as they tell in the spotlight at Wiener Konzerthaus. Together, they recorded „Unser Österreich“ ten years ago. Der Nino aus Wien played acclaimed concerts like at Donaukanaltreiben alongside Clara Luzia, Ernst Molden at Stadtsaal, and as duo, they visited e.g. the Theater im Park or the roof of the Funkhaus

In their program, they present own songs and selected Austropop classics, starting in the spirit of Georg Danzer with „Jo, da Foi wiad imma gloara“. Between they tell stories like how they recorded „Zirkus“ (2021) for „Ein Clown, Ein Leben“ of Bernhard Paul, including „I siech wos finstas“, or who started the genre, maybe Marianne Mendt

In 2021, they joined „André Hellers Hauskonzerte“, who they cover as well as Bob Dylans „I was young when I left home“. Ninos „Taxi Driver“ is based on a visit of his friend Voodoo Jürgens. And after Sigi Marons „De Spur von dein nokatn Fuaß“, they take a short break.

Wolfgang Ambros worked with Hugo Khittl on songs like „Du Schwoaza Afghane“, which they didn’t plan to play and the following „Espresso“. Nino also chooses „Praterlied“ as solo one like Ernst Molden „Ho Rugg“, he won a prize for together with Walther Soyka, Willi Resetarits and Hannes Wirth

Approaching the last quarter of the set, „Es geht immer ums Vollenden“, „Der Tschick“ (Danzer) and Falcos „Nachtflug“ are more highlights. As encore, they add a third Danzer, Ambros and „Im grünen Wald von Mayerling“ by Heller and Qualtinger

For the first time, their live album „heasd Hamburg!“ from the Elbphilharmonie is available physically and they will soon appear together again. To celebrate, the stories, the cynicism, the melancholie. The soul of Austria. And Austropop.
