Endless Hits Of Riffs And Love
Lenny Kravitz, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80
Blue Electric Light Tour presented by Barracuda Music at Wiener Stadthalle D, Austria 20250309
Sundays are for relaxation. Yet sometimes great concerts are a reason move. And there are some guitar heroes touring like Slash or Santana. The preacher of love among them set out on Blue Electric Light Tour with a stop at Wiener Stadthalle presented by Barracuda Music.
As support, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 start with the band introduction directly. As the bass opens, the drums join next. „Coffin For Head of State“ is a song by Seun’s father Fela Kuti, inventor of Afrobeat. This beat carries on throughout their set, and the brass section would set accents.
Unfortunately, the sound is quite unbalanced. This changes with main act Lenny Kravitz, who visited the hall several times before or Burg Clam last year. Right after „Bring it on“, he introduces the „Minister of Rock ’n‘ Roll“ and takes on the bass for „TK421“ from the new album.
After „Always on the Run“, he invites a young boy of the same name on stage. It is his very first concert ever, so he receives a signed tambourine and a promise. „Stillness of Heart“ reminds of music television back in the days, followed by the romantic „Believe“.
Another new banger is „Paralyzed“ in a triple feature with „Low“ and „The Chamber“. For „I’ll Be Waiting“, Lenny sits down at a piano and spreads more sparkles with „It Ain’t Over ’Til It’s Over“ and „Again“. Between, he names his nine musicians and tells how Kathy Valentine of the Go-Go’s on the soundboard brought him together with Craig Ross.
With the hits „American Woman“, „Fly Away“ and „Are You Gonna Go My Way“, the regular set ends. Lenny seams to enjoy every single second under the big lights and screens. During „Let Love Rule“, he gets his young fan with tambourine back on stage and takes a tour through the whole hall himself.
Even though „Dig In“ or „Where Are We Runnin’?“ are not part of the tracklist anymore, a Lenny Kravitz concert truly is worth a visit. And the others like „Mr. Cab Driver“, „Rock and Roll is Dead“, „Yesterday Is Gone“ or „California“ are one one’s mind anyway.
