While Ugly Kid Joe smash his hits just a stone’s throw away at ((szene)), Goodlive Artists presents an evening with one of the biggest Pop / R’n’B stars of a time. Because as Billie Eilish is on top of the charts at the moment. But back at the end of the 90s, there were likes of Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston and Emilia. 

One of this squad is Macy Gray. She does not visit the country often, the last time was during her Stripped Tour 2017. But when she does, the pilgrimage starts towards SIMMCity. And this time, she even celebrates 25 years of her debut „On How Life Is“, that kicked off her career, not only as singer. 

Her premiere in a movie she had in the drama „Training Day“ alongside Oscar winner Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. And many more followed, like „Spider-Man“ or „Around the World in 80 Days“. Back at SIMMCity, the mood is good with songs like „Dance Monkey“ or „Staying Alive“, before an animated introduction. 

The four-piece band is positioned in a semicircle and elevated, while visuals will be running all the time. First highlight is „Relating to a Psychopath“, followed by „Witness“. Between songs, Macy Gray tells her audience to say ‚I love you‘ to the person standing next. 

With „Sunny“ and „Creep“, two covers are incorporated in the set, before a solo part of piano, drum and bass. Then almost the whole debut album follows with hits like „Still“, „I’ve Committed Murder“ or „A Moment to Myself“. But they skipped one: The incredibly big hit „I Try“, Macy Gray let the crowd sing for her. The first encore, her guitarist sings, and then they stay to party with a couple of more. 

Even though the voice got less, it is still outstanding and even though the sound not perfect, it was still a mighty fine show. And Goodlive Artists will bring Fontaines D.C., Bill Murray, Mighty Oaks and more on the way while SIMMCity hosts Kerry King, Atreyu, Paradise Lost (again) and more.
