Party Off (EP 2025)
Mad Act
Instrumental Psychedelic Stoner Doom Sludge Post Metal Rock
To fall and to fly high at the same time, this is a condition only music can provide. Best is to turn it up loud and party with it. And so the absolutely perfect title for a slow burning fast invading Sludge Post Metal EP in 2025 is „Party Off“.
From Amiens and its Horitollonnages in Hauts-de-France, Mad Act travelled a little bit south to the Celebration Days Studios in Clermont to record the successor of „Stand By / ON“. The color and arrangement of the cover art reminds of a good old vinyl sleeve of The Doors, with a fiery photograph spreading homey vibes.
With under ten minutes, the four titles on this release are less long than the ones from the last EP. Still, they are not too short either, so the trio can unfold its ideas and joy to play similar to Oddplay or Caged Wolves. Each of the tracks could represent a certain stage or way to party, beginning with the „Crash“.
It does not hit in directly, as it builds up with an intro with patterns of Nine Inch Nails. But when it does, it takes off like a storm, electrifying in the manner of Alternative Metal maniacs like Helmet. The bewitching rhythms and the warm sound get a grip from this very start.
Like the band of the same name, „Sleep“ lays the listener to rest a bit, with more grungy notes and details making think of Seether’s „Your Bore“ and others. And what could fit better to move your neck than a „Doom Party“ after, relaxing the muscles immediately.
Psychedelic overlays and thundering double bass blast beats guide to proclaim the „Call Of The Void“. With a sweet groove, it enters classic worlds of Pink Floyd or King Crimson. From the depths to the musical peak, ones more screaming guitars and a lot of cymbals and the bell make one hover, pleasing the desire to party off like at the live celebration at 1001 Bières with ODA presented by Samara Stoner Sessions.
