Shaggy & Friends
„30th Anniversary Of Mr. Bombastic“ presented by Live Nation GSA, Arena Wien – Open Air, Austria 20250715
From the biggest indoor gigs in town at Stadthalle and Gasometer back to the most favorite open air Arena in town: Where Pennywise got down for a Punkrock show, Live Nation presents the celebration of 30 years „Mr. Bombastic“.
Beats by Sean Paul and Kevin Lyttle hover between the brick walls. DJ Tommy Junior then starts a dance battle on stage as everybody is moving already and fire’s up Bob Marley, The Fugees and Coolio. Time flies and the audience is perfectly warmed up for Shaggy & Friends.
The Jamaican Reggae superstar visited Steinbruch St. Margarethen together with Sting before and currently tours with Pitbull. ‚I feelin‘ good’, he puts his fans in the right „Mood“ accompanied by Kes and directly followed by the anniversary title song „Mr. Bombastic“. Some covers like „Summertime“ fill the evening air, and with „Jump Around“, „Three Little Birds“, „Bad Boys“ and „Red Red Wine“, the band heats up the place even more.
‚Bunch of fucking drunks – my kinda party‘ Shaggy comments the scenery. To the independent women he dedicates „Strength Of A Woman“, demanding them to come to the front and the boys to the back. Another massive hit is „Angel“, with many more to come like „Go Down Deh“ or „Fly High“.
‚I didn’t come for the weather […] the food […] or the weed, I came for the Austrian ladies‘ he states before „Sexy Lady“. With „Til A Mawnin“, he presents a new song with Sting. „Ain’t No Sunshine“ he performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra already and of course everyone was waiting for „It Wasn’t Me“.
Finally Shaggy clarifies that ‚women are better than men‘ and finishes with „Mad Mad World“. Some other hits like „Hope“ or „Me Julie“ might have been missing. But with the band and inweaving Austria into the lyrics, the Dancehall musician animates the Arena with hits and humor, creating a great concert evening.
