Constraints (Single 2024)

Solar Noir

Indie Rock

Life ain’t easy. More the opposite, it comes with whole lotta trouble. Even though living in a ‚free state‘, opportunities are limited. Looking for example at the housing situation, for most people it is impossible to ever call a flat or even a house one’s own. These „Constraints“ of society’s system are the topic of this debut single.

Indie Rock is alive and thriving, and in Vienna, Fiesta Forever, Neps and now Solar Noir are part of a new generation. After recording some demos, they are ready to release their first EP and the singles will keep coming in. Miljan Živaljević (Flash Productions, Lightts) produced the song, that comes with a cover like a newspaper ‚The Youth Post’ from Rock Bottom, with headlines of riot, crisis and loneliness.

The beginning riff of „Constraints“ comes in like a riot too thundering as Måneskin. The impression in the verse is of Babyshambles, The Hives and Arctic Monkeys, with energetic singing like Juliette Lewis or L7. The pre-chorus adds a little Psychedelic flavor, leading to the climax.

Four chords like common in Punk, Alternative and Grunge. Cousines Like Shit meet RHCP and Bankrupt. „Got a degree what does it mean? Can’t afford to rent a dream“ a certain hopelessness shines through. The rhythm section drives verse number two to the second refrain and the final.

Both, the fine riff and the four-chord part are great to shake. It is Indie but with this Punk attitude, that ranks Solar Noir with likes of Count Catfish, Büroklammer or The Rumperts. The problems of life are still there, yet this is music, that can help at least for some time. And this fall, on 5th October, they will take their songs to the stage again at Kramladen
