Vacuum Dog (EP 2025)
The end of radio
Lofi Indie Noise Pop Rock
Before streaming was possible on all kind of devices, the center of many living rooms as well as cars was the radio. So not only The Buggles summoned the death of this media. Also Noise Rockers Shellac declared a dark future for it in a song and album dedicated to John Peel.
The end of radio is at the same time the name of another Noise Pop Rock formation. So far they appeared at Glam, frei:raum, Arena Beisl, Café Carina, Kramladen, Loop or Coco amongst others. At Club 1019, they performed at the Duo Night together with Bipolar Penguins and Of Kings And Villains, as after changes, they consist of the brothers Markus and Michael Gansberger.
Two EPs preceded, entitled „How About That One?“ And „Pointing At Satellites“, funnily reminding of Shouting At Clouds, plus „You Might Know“ and „Breaking News“. Number three „Vacuum Dog“ comes with a colouful artwork. Their minimalistic attempt is good manners in Black Metal but also part of Guitar Wolf, Eels or Lofi Sofa.
Recorded on a Tascam Portastudio 424mk3 and mastered by Alexandr Vatagin (Buntspecht, Spitting Ibex, Cousines Like Shit), the release features seven songs in 11 minutes, similar to OFF! tracks. A certain Garage Post Punk vibe is there from the beginning, bit gloomy as well like Placebo mixed with The Strokes and Joy Division.
An early highlight is „The Question“, that adds a comforting retro feeling like Bob Tilton, The Smashing Pumpkins or The Cure. Whereas the title track is of speed like Late!, getting the car radio really going. Between this tempo, Pop Punk like Here For A Reason to even spacey and mystic moments, the end of radio found their playground.
So before the last note dies away, Wonk Unit or Neps can be found as Lenny Kravitz chord progressions, only way more raw like Weezer and beyond. The essence of Rock Noise, the „Vacuum Dog“ arrives at Bricks Music Bar Salzburg with Furiosi Quantum.
