Tour Like A Grave 2019, Arena Wien, Austria 20191120
It is way to warm in Vienna for the time of the year. In Salzburg, the rain is coming down and many parts drown in snow. At the Arena, a Finnish combo has arrived to even bring some more heat.
Stam1na are known like Kotiteollisuus or even more, from Pori’s Baarikaappi and Monttu to the Club Vaudeville in Southern Germany and beyond. Since years, they combine the roughness of Stone, (dis-)harmonies like Opeth and young energy of Slipknot. From their huge “Nocebo” (thanks Sami) they perform “Valtiaan uudet vaateet” and as final “Enkelinmurskain” of their latest “Taival”. Their unique attempt to Trash Metal is full of energy live too – thanks for playing Vienna on the “Octopussy” Tour!
The second act this night comes from the US, more precise from Detroit, home of Alice Cooper, Eminem and Axel Foley. Their name is also known because of the remindable logo and shirt designs. The Black Dahlia Murder perform a winning show, getting the crowd to form a circle pit and joking a lot. “Looks like we are too fast for some fans” is one and “Guts to the guy having priorities and holding his cup!” during crowd surfing.
The headliner gathering the people this night is Insomnium. The Finnish Melodic Death institution recruited members of Omnium Gatherum and recently Sonata Arctica. While Tiger Army and Grave Pleasures go the Rockabilly Punk way at the small hall, in the big one it now goes on the GhostTide way. With their sovereign dark and authentic feeling, the band is fire for the great mood in the audience. Compositions like “Into The Woods”, “Through The Shadows” and “Change Of Heart” are holding the happy feeling from Stam1na until the end. Another beautifully atmospheric evening in the former slaughterhouse, that makes appetite for more (like Annihilator and Archer Nation, Kadavar and Earth at the weekend).
