It Takes Two To Growl
Woe Unto Me, Guyođ
Along The Meandering Ordeals Tour 2024 presented by Wormhole Bookings, Viper Room Vienna, Austria 20241029
It is Tuesday and the evening is about to take us down the abyss – literally and figuratively. The stairway to hell leads down to the basement of the Viper Room. And the Funeral Doom and Death Metal will beautifully express the hopelessness and misanthropy, like the Post Black Metal by Harakiri for the sky, that shortens the time waiting for the concert to begin.
Guyođ took the way from Graz to join the „Along The Meandering Ordeals Tour“ and a group of fans is with them. They enlighten some incense sticks and enter the room with corpse paint. Their stage presence is intense and hooks the unillumined ones. A speech with the bell of a cymbal, few dark chords is all they need to compose a fantastic atmosphere. At the end they are on their knees with outstretched arms. An encore would only ruin this fitting end.
Originating from Belarus, Woe Unto Me have a strong focus on a memorable visual concept. Starting with their logo and cover like of their third full-length out via M-Theory Audio (Anubis, Santa Cruz and more), their show includes visuals of waves, people, the moon and dying flowers. They wear red and black shirts, like Hamferð their suits.
Already the first solo parts give you goosebumps, continuing the dreary mood of Guyođ, dwelling in depression. And yes, it is as wonderful as it sounds and difficult to put in words. Unfortunately, there are really not many experiencing this grave elegancy. But for those who do, it is a night to remember. After the outro, the merchandise table is the meeting point. And while the tour continues at Rockhouse, the Viper Room promots The Vision Bleak, Gutalax, Siberian Meat Grinder, the Dime and Vinnie Bash and more.
