To Sit Outside And Enjoy

Timay

Rudolfstanz Grätzlfest Wien, Austria 20250614

It is a feastful day in the mid of March. In the city center, the Pride Parade attracts thousands of people. Outside the so-called ‚Gürtel‘, on Mariahilfer Straße in front of the Technical Museum and between Gustav-Jäger- and Auer-Welsbach-Park, the Rudolfstanz is going down, like the Grätzlfest at Kriemhildplatz

The Straßenfest offers a lot of activities, bouncy castle, climbing wall, minigolf, market and food stalls and two stages with acts like Neiyla. On the Veloconcerts stage who are also represented at Nova Rock and run by Michael Dey, Markus Bittner presents his children’s cabaret, while Swiftie Nights Vienna start on the other one.

After some Bob Marley among others, Timay takes a seat. Known for Future:Art, Red Bus Airline, The Boy I Used To Be and The Cycling Shrimp, he quit his job to become a full-time musician. This brought him to U-Bahn-Stars like Sun State Of Mind, Kultursommer and various cities and on Busker Tour with his handpan.

Lately, he travelled with Yunger, who appears at Nova Rock the same day with All Faces Down, performed at Brew Age Lagerfest and soon at Rumwurschteln, Seestadt and Vogelwuids Musikfestival. Playing percussion with his feet, Timay starts his set with „Stone Museum“ opener „Heat Wave“.

His fingers flit over the metal in „Tourmaline“. Before he explains that the umbrella is there to protect the handpan from going out of tune. In „Seance“, he weaves in a melody from „Harry Potter“ like „Pirates of the Carribean“ in „Almonds“. The kids like to try the interesting instrument as well, clap with him in „Mikado“ and distribute the Timay glitter stickers

His music like the final „Tumbleweed“ from „Colours“ is available on CD. And while Die Ungeraden end the day at Rudolfstanz, Timay’s lovely show made one want to come back, as Sunday continues with Fenster am Eck, Batala and more.
