35 Years of Fight the Power + First Time in Europe in 9 Years presented by Beat The Fish, Planet TT Raiffeisenhalle at Gasometer Wien, Austria 20250714 

Talking about the origins of Hip Hop and the Old School roots, often names are dropped like Ice-T, N.W.A., Run DMC, Eric B and Rakim, KRS One or later on 2Pac, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg or Nas. Now one of the very first influential duos returns to Vienna after nine years of absence. 

Public Enemy currently are touring as support of Guns N’ Roses like the Sex Pistols and Wolfmother. Many might know the TV program „Flavor Of Love“ by Flavor Flav. His partner Chuck D produced a whole series on ‚How Hip Hop Changed The World‘. And both of them appeared on „New Jack City“ alongside Wesley Snipes. 

Their cooperation with Anthrax opened doors and now here they are, celebrating 35 years of „Fight The Power“. With their live band, two dancers and including Flavor Flav’s son, they are nine people on stage. ‚Make Love – Fuck War‘ they chant and jump across the boards to „Shut ’Em Down“. 

On bandcamp, they released the new album „Black Sky Over The Projects: Apartment 2025“ featuring „Public Enemy Comin Throooooo“. They salute all rapper, MCs and DJs in Austria and names like DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince and play „911 Is a Joke“ and the great „He Got Game“ from the movie of the same name. 

Known for their samples, they use AC/DC on „Black Is Back“ followed by „Harder Than You Think“ and later Queen as backing. After „I Shall Not Be Moved“, Flavor Flav plays the drums and then the bass himself, before performing a stagedive. 

At the end of this splendid Old School Rap show, he takes his time to speak up against war and racism and stand for peace. Two days later, he will be spotted in the audience himself at the Lionel Richie concert at Wiener Stadthalle..
