Biffy Clyro, Bartees Strange (Solo)

„The Futique Tour“ presented by FM4 Indiekiste Planet TT Raiffeisenhalle im Gasometer Wien, Austria 20260215

After a week sprankled with highlights, the day of the lord provides the final blessing: At Gasometer, where Igorrr set standards for the mix of Breakcore and baroque music, FM4 Indiekiste hosts one final next to Trousdale at B72 and after White Lies on Tuesday

70s Funk and Soul are on with songs like „Move On Up“ by Curtis Mayfield, „Easy“ by Commodores or „Theme From Shaft“ by Isaac Hayes. Bartees Strange acts as solo support this evening. The English-born American Indie Singer-Songwriter might be known from this Tiny Desk concert, which brought forth names like Tash Sultana

Just accompanied by his electric guitar, Bartees Strange lets his strong and variable voice speak on its own. He remembers that he has been here before at a ‚little festival‘ in Sankt Pölten – the Frequency. From his latest third album, he includes songs like „Sober“, making the crowd yell and applaud.

Still most shirts and pullovers of the now too crowded place tell one name: Biffy Clyro from Scotland visited the city e.g. for the Rock In Vienna ten years before alongside Iggy Pop and others and kept returning to the very location in eleventh district. Famous for their intense live energy, they come with a stage design and fulminant show.

After Mark Fell’s squeeking „Multistability 1-B“ as intro, they start right away on several levels and platforms, including two string players. Everything is moving and the lights flashing, while moving is quite difficult within the crowd. With his head against the microphone stand, singer Simon Neil then uses a torch to take a closer look of the fans.

Songs like „That Golden Rule“ or „Wolves of Winter“ spark their fire, while „Goodbye“ from their new „Futique“ or the acoustic „Machines“ cast a romantic (Valentine’s) mood. Finally „The Captain“ has „Many of Horror“. And the next FM4 Indiekiste/Gasometer combination is right behind the corner with The Kooks..
