The Punk scene in Vorarlberg has been always there. Epicenters are the Between, Villa K, Chybulski and (old) Graf Hugo. Bookers like Punkrock Weiner and OK F*K get acts like Wonk Unit, Appendix and desolat to the alps country. And there are vibrant bands like Legs No Shoes, Sektor7, Stator, I Not Dance or I.O.N.U., putting a heavy foodprint on the map. 

Since some years, Drunken Pumpkins play a part in this game. Melodic Hardcore and Skate Punk are their natural musical habitat. In 2019, they released their debut, but appeared on stage already before and after with likes of Reason Of Sin or Bikini Beach, at Café Carina presented by Musicjunky Bookings, pmk, Music- and Rockhouse or Szene Openair. 

With their new single presented by superlifepromo, they pick up a current topic like VLUN: „Act Online, Stay Unreal“, the title basically tells everything. On the cover, a wide-open eye like in ‚Clockwork Orange‘ doesn’t starr at its observer but on the display of a mobile phone. The iris is in a digitally ‚Matrix‘-green, and with the dark border and gaming typography, it has a certain Stephen King horror appeal. 

In the beginning, there is a riff, the builds the base of the song, as quickly the rest of the trio joins. When only drums and bass are on, The Offspring come to one’s mind. The barking vocals help the Owe You Nothing-HC-impression, and after another short filler, there’s the refrain. 

Listening to the second verse, the drum rhythm reminds of „Nevertrust“ by Cavalera. Then the bridge with a speech leads to a break and the final chorus with a sharp ending. The wild style, riff and rhythm are on point and offer potential for escalation, like other Rock icons Story Of The Year, 3 Feet Smaller or DeeCRACKS.
