Celebrating Life Through Death presented by Mind Over Matter / Barracuda Music & Cobra Agency, planet TT Raiffeisenhalle Gasometer Wien, Austria 20241120

It is time to say a final goodbye again to another band. After Sum 41 played their farewell show the week before, Mind Over Matter presents the „Celebrating Life Through Death“ tour at Gasometer.

A farewell show needs the right support, and so this night takes off with some real Hardcore. The stage is completely full with gear, but Jesus Piece from Philadelphia find enough space to jump and breaking loose a superb show. This enthusiasm comes down to the audience, that gets moving already at the front.

Obituary have been on headliner tour not too long ago and play several additional shows this time as well. Their controlled Death mass brings a smile to their fan’s faces, including the dancing couple singer John Tardy and his microphone stand. Songs of their latest „Dying of Everything“ work next to classics like their 1989 debut title track „Slowly We Rot“.

After this Florida old school party, Jinjer from Ukraine are up next with Modern Metal like Motionless In White, Falling In Reverse or Bloodywood. They score with a strong stage presence as well, presenting several tunes from their upcoming 2025 album „Duél“.

Even some would have wished for another Metal legend as support, it makes sense to support a younger band with this spot. And then it is time to celebrate 40 years of Groove Thrash Metal anyway with the last show of Sepultura after the one in 2022. „Refuse/Resist“ as opener is massive and enters a set of around twenty songs through the band’s history, leaving out „The Mediator Between Head and Hands Must Be the Heart“ and others.

Phantom Self“ from „Machine Messiah“ is one of the newer, between other early bangers like „Kaiowas“ and a shortened cover of Motörhead’sOrgasmatron“. Another highlight is „Inner Self“. And who knows, what the future will bring. In the meantime, Cavalera are still out as well, focusing a lot on their Sepultura past.
