Love For The Music & Scene
Blood Fire Death (Bathory Tribute), Catastrofear, Dismal Lumentis
Escape Anniversary Birthday Bash, Tag 2 at Escape Metalcorner Vienna, Austria 20260307
Early March – Hangover Division rocks replugged and festival season’s on with the Ottakringer Vinyl & Music Festival featuring artists like Cadû or Julia Bassenger. And another important live club celebrates its 23rd year of existence with an own two-days party.
Every time again, the Escape Metalcorner comes up with a special lineup. After a recent visit of Red Swamp, day one of this weekend started with Hiraes, Hypnos and Monastery. Now day two marks the comeback of Dismal Lumentis. With a history reaching back to 1997 with appearances e.g. at Reign Of Darkness, they present the beauty of Sweden Death Metal.
Dismal Lumentis don’t only return to stage but announce new material later this year. During one speech, a discreet burp earns laughters. And the set is a great promotion for upcoming gigs like on May 16 or at Kaltenbach Open Air. Also the following Catastrofear praise the comeback and the sound engineer.
With shirts by likes of Vermocracy and Tulsadoom, they show love for the local scene. Connected with Athiria, they were part of the celebration before and use the evening to play a rarity next to compulsory ones like „Rescue Medication“. And as the audience sings with them, bassist Zepp gets down to them.
Then, after Deep Purple who inspired Zakk Wylde to play guitar, the Escape presents another exklusiv tribute show like Ozzy Forever or Bömbers some years ago: Blood Fire Death ‚happen to play songs from Bathory‘. As mainly Quorthon with members like Jonas Åkerlund heavily influenced Black- and Viking Metal, they have their focus on the later one.
„Twilight Of The Gods“, „Enter The Eternal Fire“, „A Fine Day To Die“, each one is a highlight like „Sacrifice“ from the debut 1984 or the only track with music video „One Rode To Asa Bay“. Blood Fire Death travelled over 700 kilometers from Bruchsal, Baden-Württemberg for this concert, they play with a lot of joy and obvious love for the music.
Therefore, it is wonderful, yet too short. But Come To The Sabbath follows with Maledict, Franzi, A:P and Phil, and the next shows include names like Child Cemetery, Rämbow, Dystrust, Exhumed, Mortal Strike or Green Jellÿ.
