Monster (Single 2025)

JLP

Alternative Rock

Monsters creeping out from under the bed or out of the wardrobe. Children’s nightmares, horror movie scenes. Dark forest, trees with eyes watching. Like in a game but the purpose is to cut loose. Getting rid of the „Monster“.

Almost two years have passed since the first single with video „Far Out Of Reach“. In the meantime, JLP published several more like „Do As I Please“, „Aftermath“ or „Us Against The World“ like 2Pac. With „Monster“, they dwell in a 90s / early 00s vibe similar to Dreamer Dreamer, with an organic sound like one is used to from likes of Nirvana.

With the title like Rollins Band or Small Souki, the cover by Emily Pfannhauser displays the horrific scenery from the beginning, with a person as a marionette like Months Of Indecision, and the scissors ready. After clicking, the tape starts to roll on the record to underline the primary attempt.

A dissonant four-chord begins, and as fan, the riff and beat as well remind of various songs like „69 Tea“ or „Nobody Praying“ by Seether. It is a cool production with muted and dynamic elements like Everlast, exploding in the chorus. Alternative meets Pop Punk with a pinch of Nu Metal and Goth Rock. Wild distortion yet modern in taste and the voice bringing up Vintage Paradise

The rhythm even gets more important in the bridge, ringing like „Going Under“ of Evanescence, with clean guitar strumming between. A lot going on in three and a half minutes, to come to a smoothe ending, as the tape stops.

„Monster“ got everything a Rock song needs. Produced by Jonas Strondl and mastered by Martin Scheer, it is a pleasure on your speakers or headphones. And for the live version, JLP celebrate the release at Flex Café on 24th October together with Flieda
