I Don’t Wanna Change The World
Ozzy Forever, The Röad Crew
A Tribute To The Prince Of Darkness presented by Rock Antenne Österreich at ((szene)) Wien, Austria 20260228
Since several music legends left this earth, tribute shows are the way to keep their spirit alive and celebrate their legacy. Examples are the yearly Kurt Cobain Live Memorial or Binary_Boy, Frizz Mo&Co and Danny Bianchi & the Starchildren performing David Bowie at G5.
This evening is even about two icons of the Hard & Heavy scene. While Mostörhead appear at the Rock Inferno Stainz, Vienna’s very own Röad Crew enters the stage at ((szene)). Just recently, they played an extended Motörhead set at the Lemmy Memörial.
Tonight, they have to cut short but still have about twenty songs with them like „Damage Case“, „Dancing On Your Grave“, „The Chase Is Better Than The Catch“ or „Overkill“. The band around Wildhunt’s Wolfgang Elwitschger does a fantastic job as always.
Yet this night is even mainly about another legend: Ozzy Osbourne’s unbelievable life is topic of his own book and several documentaries. With Toni Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward and Black Sabbath, he gave birth to Heavy Metal as cemented in „A Headbanger’s Journey“. Live, they brought it to „The End“ and „Back To The Beginning“ with Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society) and many more.
Members of Ecliptica, Dragony, Locomötive, Edgar, Cil City, Siren’s Cry, Evolution, Old Mrs. Bates and more practiced to deliver a wonderful historical set as Ozzy Forever. One early very emotional moment is „Mama, I’m Coming Home“ with lyrics by Lemmy, followed by „No More Tears“.
Organized in three acts, number II starts with „Hellraiser“ and „Iron Man“. It also features the duet with Lita Ford as well as „Mr. Crowley“. And towards the finish, „War Pigs“, „Changes“, „Dreamer“ and „Crazy Train“ are there for a very pleased sold out hall.
‚This is the loudest and best Ozzy tribute in Austria‘ – this statement must be true. So hopefully this memorial show will happen again, while the night continues at Iceberg with music from The Cure, Depeche Mode, R.E.M. and U2 amongst others.
