Unofficial Christmas Festivity at The Hidden Heart
Ruhmer
BAR:HOCKER Feldkirch, Austria 20241226
In the heart of Feldkirch, the most western realm of Austria, is a bar. Like most others as Shamrock, Rösslepark or Bunt, it invites bands to play at Rundklang. But not only, and so this frosty eve, we stop at the backside of the main streets, where the Billy‘s Pub by Mandi was and now the BAR:HOCKER is.
While Magic Delphin releases his fourth album „Für Kinder“ this day, Ruhmer is about to present a fine selection of his oeuvre, while his second full-length is in the making. His first solo show, he played shortly before at Kramladen. Yet tonight is his premiere performing while sitting.
In the beginning, he asserts that it is kind of an unofficial family feast. Then he starts with the beautiful „Calais“, followed by „To The Wild“, that gets the fans clapping, shaking and cheering. The guitar he plays the set including „Loving A Machine“ is a Yamaha with old strings he could borrow from Mathias, and the speakers from the Ranch ‚Zum Unterm Riadbom‘.
About „Another Day’s Night“ from „Cherryland“ he tells it talks of driving nowhere with a cab after work. With „Drowner“, his latest single apart from „I Want To Be Your Only Pet“ with Mira Taylor must not be missing. During his days in Vorarlberg, he learned the meaning of ‚mögig‘ (friendly) he recalls, and the audience sings with him in „Sticky Little Lies“.
The shirts for „Newsflash“ were designed by Eva, and then he gets to an end with „Home“. As he is perfectly in time, he repeats „To The Wild“ as encore. After all, it is just a kind of ‚sneak preview‘ of his work as he determines himself, because there would be more great songs like „Universe“.
Ruhmer continues his acoustic series at Honolulu Hotel in Bregenz supporting Luigi e Fudelio. And he promises to return two times in 2025, first in April at a location tba and then again at the end of August for a new festival.
