As Darkness Arises From Blood-Red Hell
Mayhem, Marduk, Immolation
Death over Europe presented by TON Music Productions at SIMMCity Wien, Austria 20260219
Big flakes of snow come from the sky tonight. Easily enough for a snowball fight on the roof of SimmCity. It is the second venue taken over by TON Music Productions, apart of ((szene)), where Finnish Omnium Gatherum return.
For Immolation from the US, it marks a new album cycle after their last appearance at Vienna Metal Meeting 2024. So they don’t hesitate to present the new „Adversary“ from „Descent“. Rumbling like Deicide or similar, their eye-catcher is guitarist Robert Vigna, moving like human speed roboter on the strings.
One of the highlights during Midnight sunset at the beach of Nummijärvi for sure was Marduk. The drumset grows and choral singing add a sinister atmosphere, as the Swedish Black Metal institution enters. Already in the beginning with songs like „Wolves“ and „Throne of Rats“, they display their ability to embed heavy slow grooves with brutal riffs with high velocity.
In combination with one of the Norwegian godfathers of the genre Mayhem, they build the double-feature of evil arts in this early year. Singer Attila Csihar visited the city’s Museumsquartier performing Oozing Earth. Now he’s back in his costumes and drenched in red, with visuals projected in the back.
Mayhem celebrate their new album „Liturgy of Death“ and younger songs like „Bad Blood“ from „Daemon“ as well as the bands classics like from „Wolf’s Lair Abyss“. Attila carries the skull on his microphone and a bone cross as a gun. Again, they underline their position in history next to likes of Darkthrone, Gorgoroth, Satyricon or Enslaved with the incredible raw songs from „Deathcrush“.
In the meantime, the Planet TT calendar announces the first I’m A Sloth show in 4 years at ((szene)) and more highlights at SimmCity including names like Visions Of Atlantis, Kataklysm & Vader, Stoned Jesus & Wheel, Black Stone Cherry and more.
