Forever (Music Video 2024)
Blood and Champagne
Fast ’n’ Heavy Melodic Punkrock
Many songwriters have thought about the utopia of an endless life. Positive or negative like Oasis in „Live Forever“ or Bon Jovi in „It’s My Life“, a Punkrock group from Salzburg adds another perspective: the limit to overcome one’s past and sticky situations and ‚moving on, before it’s too late‘.
After the two EPs „First Blood“ and „A Gentle Creature“, Blood and Champagne chose to set the release of their next single „Forever“ right between Christmas and New Year’s. On the cover, the face of Tom Westfeld (du zahlst) is stylized the cartoon way in front of a graffiti painted wall. Supported by the city of Salzburg, the single was recorded with Niki Tiefenbacher.
A quick drum fill, and the riff hits in directly. Raw distorted guitar sounds go into power chords. Just the way The Offspring or Weezer compose, still sounding juvenile and fresh. The clear voice creates a contrast and adds a Heavy Metal accent, maybe due to the association of Alexandra Hesse’s other band project Vintage Paradise.
The refrain gets stuck in one’s mind immediately and offers an enthusiastic performance like Bankrupt or Pennywise, while an obligatory solo part makes think of Royal Republic. And after the climax, the end comes suddenly. What brings us to the visual aspects of the video.
Filmed in what looks like an abandoned building, the setting again makes think of The Offspring and „The Kids Aren’t Alright“. Tom Westfeld is lashed up in a straitjacket like Falco, while hands reach out to his head like in „De Gier“, covering his face with paint like in „Dancing at a corner“.
Produced by Helena Ebner, the feeling compares to videos of junkXfilms. Coming to the sudden end of the song, the locations changes to a bench in front of a fence. Tom gets joined by the band, they light up a cigarette. Fade to black, their logo remains for the last seconds.
