Observational beauty, Bending light and bending grief

Run, Run On Tour at Club Lucia, Vienna, Austria 20260904

In charge of opening the night was Sakura, who I can best describe as if dream pop turned into the literal oneiric building of ambient. You could sense the trance state that the crowd reached through her performance, captivated by the sound of the fuzzy guitar and Sakura’s soft voice.

Afterward, the Luxembourgish took the stage with the confidence of a long-experienced musician, Jana Bahrich, better known as Francis of Delirium.

The set started with “Aliens” and “Out Tonight” as an intro to her recently released album Run, Run Pure Beauty (2026). The same openers of her latest material, grandiose and intense, the same energy that characterizes her best. Grungy guitars and heart felt lyrics.

Overall, the setlist was a balanced combination of both her first and latest albums, “Blue Tuesday” and “Real Love” from Lighthouse (2024) followed, only to come back to the newest material with a wink to Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” as an intro for “Requiem for a Dying Day“.

Jana’s charisma enlightens the set with regular interaction with the crowd in between songs, even playing a previously requested song by a fan, “Come Out And Play” from her EP “The Funhouse” (2022), or FaceTiming the actress of the movie that inspired “It’s a Beautiful Life“.

With great energy and charisma, the set slid quickly. Until the homonymous song “Run, Run Pure Beauty“, a song that encloses the sensation of running freely, no hiding, pure beauty.

After a couple more songs, “First Touch” and “Dammed“, the band did an encore, playing “Cliffs” at the request of another fan, and closing with my personal favorite, “Give it back to me“, from her first LP.

After all, a great summer-ending night at Lucia. A drummer and a bassist are the only company needed for Jana to shine. Francis of Delirium is a fresh and promising act that was born ready to be the main act at any big stage. Keep an eye on them, because I have no doubt their ascent will be fast.
