The Ignorance Cut (Album 2024)

CroworD

Melodic Death Metal

Like there are a million ways to die, there are several faces of death and Death Metal. There are brutal and raw cuts, but progressive melodic ones too. Whelming from northern Scandinavian spheres way down south to middle-european mountain ranges the dead skeleton eyes howl.

Those dead eyes Irrwisch placed on the beautiful album artwork for „The Ignorance Cut“ by CroworD. After „The Great Beyond“ and acclaimed live appearances like way back at Reign Of Darkness or Metal Escalation, they unfold the next chapter in tradition of In Flames, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, Children Of Bodom or Eyes In The Void

Strings open this opus, before the characteristic band sound comes in. Screams and growls meet the whipping rhythms, guitars are on top. Raunchy could be godparents too, while the doublebass drums wake a Tim Curry Grinch grin. In all this blast, CroworD don’t forget about quiet parts.

For „The Devil’s Truth“, they could even win Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry, Meshuggah, Kaipa, Nocturnal Rites). A video was shot at a quarry, and the story of Aldous Huxley is told in the style like Blinded Halo. The following parts of the „Crimson Gaze“ concept EP include „Secession“ (a Viennese institution) and shouts like Sektor7 and Machine Head

Going mid-tempo, parts make think of Meet The Mailman with a pinch of Flight of Eden, with clean fill-ins and thoughtful lyrics. Dark atmospheres arise with the guitar sound and yet again, the speed brings up Nekrogoblikon later on in „Death and the Maiden“ and „Soulcutter“.

The great melodic work with grimm rhythms remind of Joey Jordison and Scar The Martyr. Finally the „Totenlied“ by Gerd Hermann Ortler lays a scary silence upon everything. Like wandering and dancing in a foggy forest. Whether in Scandinavia or the Alps. CroworD deliver an album with full dedication, sophisticated approach and wonderful presentation, also available as CD and vinyl at Season Of Mist among others.
