Austria’s Hip Hop scene is lively and heart-warming welcoming. And this Saturday, the who-is-who goes way underground at Weberknecht for a stunning album release show organized by Rap am Bogen and DDS. On a table at the entrance to the vaulted cellar, BenGee is hosting an origami workshop, while upstairs is a party for women.
As warm-up, DJ Funkwiz spins tunes by likes of Scarface or Big Pun. Worst Messiah had to cancel his support slot, but Skip SZK jumped in, starting with a quote from „Gangs of New York“. He praises DJ Funkwiz for his effects, who ‚only turned off‘ the turntable.
The scratches on his latest EP „Stoergeraeusche“ are from Chrisfader himself, and for the GIS track „belanglos“, Fellowsoph joins on stage. Also 2ocke, who comes up next, recently released an EP „h34rtbr34ks“. With performances at Kultursommer, HipHop’n’Punk 4 SOS Balkanroute and United Battle Culture, she has built a reputation.
A friend told 2ocke, that she deserves to shine, so she wrote a song about that and „FDP“ against patriarchy from the „Horrorpunkrap“ EP is a screaming highlight. After a short break with songs from likes of Doechii, it is time for the actual release show by Mo Cess & Chrisfader.
As part of Duzz Down San, they could be heard e.g. at Reindorfgassenfest or WNMR. Basically, they would like to play the whole album „Neie Ufer“ straight, but they do a mix. So the „Fischer“ follows to the „Dschungl“ from „Klåmm“. The first feature on the new record with Johanna Mettnitzer is „Wenn du älter bisch“.
Another feature is with Worst Messiah, and on stage, Fellowsoph joins once more with Edi Flaneur. Mo Cess (Da Kessl) also takes out a melodica and comes down to his fans in the audience. The atmosphere is great like the album and show. As the live action is done, the party continues with DJ sets of Pulp Kitchen, Pirmin and Asozialer Veganer.
The „Neie Ufer“ release tour will continue to Salzburg, Landeck and Steyr, while more shows at Weberknecht will be with Brokencyde, High Fade and Opal in Sky.
