Fresh Air, Stunning Stories & Black Gold

Ottakringer Vinyl & Music Festival 2025 – Day 1

Ottakringer Brauerei Wien, Austria 20250308

There are several markets for vinyls and CDs in town: at Chelsea, Planet TT hall or at Längenfeldgasse by Moses Records. But the biggest with supporting programme beyond happens annually at Ottakringer Brauerei: the Vinyl & Music Festival

Like it featured the Gig Poster Show before, this year’s edition unites the Vinylograph, the ‚Viennese Instruments Salon‘ and 150 exhibitors including an Indie Label Market with names like Grazil, Noise Appeal and Tape Capitol. And not enough, presentations and live acts, beginning on day one with Zug nach Wien

As the weather is spring-like for the first time, they play on an open air stage directly at the entry next to the tram station. After many (unplugged) gigs with likes of SEBi! at Addicted to Rock, U4 and more, they happily announce a gig in Klagenfurt soon. And they already make look forward to Orange Skies, coming up next.

Pointing out the importance of today’s International Women’s Day, they splice in a Pretty Reckless cover. Performing their latest single „Look Alive, Honey“, they thank Felix (Of Kings and Villains) for mixing, Laura for the artwork and Branko of the label.

Between the live action, author Wolfgang Planker presents his book „Als die Beatles Österreich auf den Kopf stellten“. At the Hopfenboden Rock Antenne Lounge, he tells many stories of the band shooting „Help“ in Obertauern, their only spontaneous concert at Hotel Marietta, John Lennon at Sacher, Ringo Starr at Eden Bar and George Harrison writing „Faster“ and playing at the birthday of Gerhard Berger

Downstairs, the show continues with Ivery, who released the single „You Let Me Down“ exactly one year ago. Her latest composition she plays solo on her keytar, transforming to „Beast Of Burden“ and thanking Roberta of oeticket for the organisation. One more special is the acoustic version of „On Fire“, before the final act Nnoa, who appears as duo and will support Forty Four at Porgy & Bess

All this makes the Vinyl & Music Festival the place to be for seekers of records from Ennio Morricone and Led Zeppelin to Harold Faltermeyer or Ghost. And while International Women’s Day continues e.g. at Riot Grrrl Fest by Queen Of Shades, day two in Ottakring comes with a Reading Rock Matinee and artists like Edgar..
