A Traveller’s Story (Album 2025)
Yunger
Folk Singer-Songwriter
He is one of the last true troubadours. A traveling musician, moving from town to town, following his paths like Peter Ratzenbeck. When he is not joining All Faces Down or Stellaccord, he is roaming the land playing solo acoustic shows. And the results of those journeys are documented in this new full-length „A Traveller’s Story“.
It is album number three for Yunger. The moment of truth, a turning point for some bands like Volbeat, Airbourne or Black Stone Cherry. Individual styles are perfected and extended by others, never losing the soul and harmony that brought him out. Time for „Setting Sails“, call the trumpets by Johannes Peer and sway to the natural rhythm with a ‚hey‘ like by The Lumineers.
For album number three, Yunger did three videos in changing order to the record like Danko Jones, Junipa Gold or Ruhmer: the trilogy starts with „Golden Waves“ in the morning sun above the city. Part two „Moments“ comes with a typical beautiful refrain. The ‚glasses of wine‘ can be heard, that gab & gal sang about (and the latter plays drums on four of the tracks), as the VW T4 passes by the trees like Sólstafir cross rivers in „Lágnætti“.
Finally the story settles at the „Campfire“ with Timay (formerly The Cycling Shrimp) on handpan. Continuing in album order, Alvin Ehrnberger is featured on „Stories“ with strong strumming, bringing back the „Punk Rock Days“. The „Roadtrip With You“ comes like a kettledrum with Irish Flogging Molly flavor and trumpet solo, and „Half Of A Whole“ includes even more strings by Roman Richter and Caroline Stevenson.
It is a love song that fits in and (again) reminisces of Bright Eyes like the mouth harp. The low cello gives „Conival“ the dramatic art and tension of a full orchestra like Diver meets Mauri Dark. And with „Coming Back Home“, it feels like closing a circle. Since „Yet Another Travel Song“ or „The Road Keeps Calling“, Yunger is not ‚ready to go‘ but ‚ready to come back home again‘.
