Western Sunset At Spittelau
Johnny Indigo & The El Dorado Wildfire, Peer Magnus
G5 Live Music Bar Vienna, Austria 20261023
Western movies! As the music week proceeds, here comes the weekend: After humming people supported Some Sprouts at Das Werk, Friday delivers Grindcore by Nowitschok-5 – or Southern Folk Americana Rock, that would perfectly fit into wild west locations like Lucky Town.
Instead, the G5 offers a friendly setting as well. Since The Vintage Cinema Club, who visit Café Carina on Saturday, it hosted The ACT (Alice Cooper Tribute) or King Dude recently. Tonight, Sleepless Eyes from Bavaria unfortunately have to cancel due to illness.
So Peer Magnus took their place on short notice, to present a fistful of his songs acoustically. His lyrics take the listeners on humorous journeys, feeling like polar bears and going „All In“. The solo parts, he simply improvises with his mouth, similar to a kazoo.
His new single „Wunderbares Wesen“ is out today and will be featured on his album „Wie ein Mensch“, set to be released in February. Producer behind the project is Mathias Kollos aka Johnny Indigo. With his band The El Dorado Wildfire, he entered Kramladen, the Ranch Unterm Riadbom (welcoming Forest Ray on Sunday) and TV studios of FS1 and Mulatschag already.
Starting with the massive „Massive Jesus“, the quartet serves originals about gambling and covers like „Heart Shaped Box“. The bass by ‚Richie The Kid‘ floats the room, as the drums by Mike the Maker hold it together. Meanwhile Johnny Indigo and Emanuele Fusaro drift away in their dual guitar solos like in „Pink Flamingos“, inspired by the documentary „Some Kind of Heaven“.
„Ragdolls“ is ‚about the morning after‘, „Mexicali“ originally features Ivery, and then Johnny Indigo surprises with a decent Britney Spears cover of „Toxic“. As the band comes to an end, the first song for the project and album „Ridin Hi“ must not be missing.
Johnny Indigo and his El Dorado Wildfire obviously have fun, which transfers to the audience. The singing is well-balanced and strong like the whole sound. A great Rock show, that makes pumped for more.
