Go Out And Dance
Die Gewürztraminer, ANA, Fainschmitz
10 Jahre Tanzverbot at WUK Vienna, Austria 20261017
It’s ‚Busy October‘ – on one evening, there are several options to choose from: The Glue Crew from Salzburg returns to Kramladen. At Chelsea (which turns 40), H.P. Zinker teams up with I’m A Sloth before DJ Alfi’s Heatwave. Great Rift celebrate their tenth anniversary at replugged together with The Ghost and the Machine. And at Arena Beisl, HC Roth reads from his book „Tabak“ (Edition Outbird), accompanied by music of Niki Mühlschüttel.
Our way leads to WUK for the second time this month after the 45-year-party – for yet another anniversary of one decade. As support, Fainschmitz presents a bunch of songs like at Theater am Spittelberg, starting with „Fegen“ and „How To Floss“ from their latest album. „Falling Down“ feels light-footed and like tonight’s highlight. While their original injured bassist Martin Burk watches the show within the audience, Felix (Die Flüsterkneipe) jumped in and ‚nails it‘.
The same applies to drummer Michi Schatzmann (Ivery, Oskar Haag, humming people) in the final „Delphine zählen“. Then, a short intermezzo by ANA follows. The duo consisting of Claudius Jelinek (Harri Stojka) and Andi Steirer (Austria 3) plays Wienerlied, listing public transportation lines: ‚Mit dem Siebenunddreißiger zur Hohen Warte‘. Then the ‚Kunst und Klamauk‘ (art and slapstick) continues with Die Gewürztraminer, celebrating ten years of „Tanzverbot“.
The big band worked with likes of Josef Hader and appeared e.g. at Reindorfgassenfest and features ten musicians, including Gidon Oechsner, Marco Fillipovits, Daniel Schober, Martin Schiske and Sára Hoffer. In front of their backdrop(s), they get the whole hall moving with „Es gheat vü mehr gschmust“ or „Mercedes Benz“. For the special occasion, they have invited several guests, including Luca from Franz Fuexe, a rapper and Ankathie Koi, even performing one of her own songs „Little Hell“.
Die Gewürztraminer like to add fill-ins like from Johann Strauss Jr., Michael Jackson, Bilderbuch in „Hausdetschn“ or „Bella Ciao“. With „Wüstensaund“ and „Sau Nice“, they get close to the end of a great dance party, that they will continue at kind of their homebase, the Loop, where they used to play gipsy sessions.
