Epistemology of Bertrayal (Album 2026)

Noise Rock

In the darkest corners of the Noise multiverse, the various acts develop their very own versions. There is Phal:Angst on one side, and le_mol not so far. On another side, there is the end of radio, and even further, Primitive Man and God Mother rant. With „Epistemology of Betrayal“, yet the next side opens up.

While the album title itself makes think of band names like Confessions Of A Traitor, portrayal of guilt and Verrat, the artwork to the monochrome record by Karolina Marvarics with the red typography follows a more artsy attempt. Similar to the music monotrauma manufactures, it is not to be encoded at first glance – but it deserves to dig deeper.

The trio starts with the rhythm first, before the actual noise sets in, followed by the accusing vocals. Stomping like a machine in the beginning, soon it will change to some speedy Punk format. So especially the guitar lines can remind of (early) Offspring, while the voice seems so familiar in one way, yet disconcerting at the same time.

A personal highlight comes with song four of six: „Ride“ has the harmonies of Bob Tilton, built on chords like the Grunge of Nirvana. The rise is slow but constantly, and solos round it up. ‚Don’t look at me!‘, we hear the screams in „Miracles“, that adds a theatrical flavor, changing to a Psychedelic hypnotic direction.

Most of the songs are over six minutes long, raw and dynamic. The distorted sound and spoken vocals have a lot from Rollins Band. „Epistemology of Betrayal“ is an album for discoveries, that might not be there on first listen. Like the songs itself, the music of monotrauma rises in general. Within the mind, the space, the multiverse, stepping out of the corner. And into Venster99 on 26th November.
