Summer Breeze Festival 2017 – Announcement
20th Anniversary, 16th-19th August 2017, Dinkelsbühl, Germany
Back in 1997, another Festival institution was established. They have given it the name Summer Breeze. Hated and feared by None-Rockers, it became the temple of the headbanger’s companionship. And this year they are going to worship their Metal on these holy grounds for the 20th time.
Ok, that is not totally right, because when it started, it was held in Ostalb, but since 2006 already it takes place on the airport of the Aeroclub of Dinkelsbühl. Situated in the middle of southern Germany, it is close for many Metalheads of other countries too. With the biggest names within the genre playing the four stages, it is not surprising the people love to travel there. Soulfly, In Flames, Morbid Angel or also gems like Raunchy and Pink Cream 69 are just a view of them. And they keep coming back.
And so this year’s line-up includes many awesome acts again. Already the three headliners read themselves like the who-is-who of the metal subgenres: the Nu-Metal-Legends Korn, the almighty Vikings from Amon Amarth, and the most famous German Metal export Kreator. Not enough, it seems a little bit like the Finnish year for the festival, as they got the greatest bands from the land of a thousand lakes: Children Of Bodom, Wintersun, Amorphis, Finntroll and Sonata Arctica as well as Steve ‘n’ Seagulls.
Apart from that, going through the list of bands playing, there are many, many more to find. Also there will be special shows by for example Eluveitie and Knorkator. So no question, there will be a lot to celebrate for the over 40 000 visitors of this 20th edition.
And another thing is for sure too. Nick Holmes of Blood Bath had to laugh loudly because of the festival’s sweet name Summer Breeze. But it will not be sweet. It is going to be heavy and brutal as always, and it will continue to be hated and feared!
