Espejismo (Music Video 2025)

Lizar

Cyberpunk Alternative Soft Grunge

There are various ways to express one’s protest and one has to be careful those days to not get deceived by an illusion. Topics that can be found in the single „Espejismo“ roaring from Mar Del Plata, Argentina like Fin Del Mundo or Roascio RCM around the world.

On the last of the four EPs in their discography, LIZAR wrote their name stylized with a ‚4‘ so „LIZ4R“. They dedicated themselves to the Garage Post Punk dust that brought forth likes of Joy Division or Solar Noir more recently. „Espejismo“ stands out in particular because of an overall massive bass and an atmospheric music video.

Noises are flickering, then the song blasts in stopping the heart beat for a second. The rhythm and drum fills set accents, as the riff is of L7. Whispering and slightly distorted vocals give a creepy pinch like Heckel & Jeckel and breaks are incorporated. Finally electronic sounds remind of „The Sheriff and the Satellite Kid“, while the riffing is pure Punkrock like Bankrupt

With appropriate look and feel, the video starts with flickering lights to the sounds reminiscing of a sanatorium like in „Gothika“ or similar. It is graded in a rough black and white like „Reckless“, with a DIY ethos like Touché AmorésHome Away From Here“.

The fade-in implements several layers with a fence, a bulb, a torch, fire, a TV, yet the most important are a top shot and scenes of riot. A metro takes us to this world like in „Pilule“ by Saez. The bands name Lizar is spray painted on a metal garage door that stands on its head.

At the end of the trip, the subway takes the viewer out of the nightmare into the station. Like „Haunted Reality“, it brings up „Enter The Void“ in another way. Artsy and raw at the same time, the „Espejismo“ gets a hold..
