Promin feat. Johannes Persson (Single 2025)
Vøvk
Progressive Rock
Music is about unity. Between musicians and listeners and between bandmembers themselves. For Santana, playing with other people is the greatest thing. And many invite guests like Chris Declercq, Linda Kay or Throw Rag invited Lemmy or Dave Grohl invited a whole line-up for „Probot“ like Slash did for his first solo album or more recently, Body Count invited e.g. Max Cavalera.
In this special case, Vøvk teamed up with Johannes Persson of Cult Of Luna, who toured with likes of Brutus and Svalbard. He even took on the challenge to sing in Ukrainian. For the cover artwork, Diogo Soares is responsible. It is simple but catchy, with the single title „Promin“ written in captial letters like Amenra. Beneath is a sun in a box, similar to the one on the punk-metal Jazz record „The End Of Silence“ of Rollins Band by Rick Spellman.
Inspired by visionary Georges Méliès, Hanna Strizh composed an animatic music video. An approach to salute old masters like Earthset or Johnny Indigo do. The song itself welcomes the listener with a beautiful warm Post Rock harmony. But soon enough, it grows bigger, a Majesty like Ghost and HIM.
A playful rhythm carries on and the guitar is there, crystal clear like a (Finnish) lake or Kairon;IRSE. As Johannes Persson comes in, the feeling changes to an AIMD Screamo show, Post Hardcore style like Arklight or Vægtløs. The dual vocals complete the power as Chaos Over Cosmos mix clean and growls too.
An instrumental solo outro that returns must not be missing in this one. Vøvk underline their great sense for song structures. Complex yet accessible, they have crafted the next consistent piece after the previous „Tiger“. And, it heralds their upcoming new album, set to be released in autumn.
