True (Single 2021)
Anderwelt
Ambient Doom Post Metal
Already back in 2016, a music film entitled „Trinity of Decay“ shattered the mountains down to the sea. Heike Christiane Kotsios („Hurenkarussell“) and Ralph Saml („Johnny Unsaddled“) stared in this amazingly dark piece by Sodom & Chimera Productions, promoted on Dorf TV. After „Pax“, now here comes the next epic chapter.
Anderwelt definitely value appealing visual art. And not only when performing live like at the Rockshock Theatre with Disbelief or the postponed Dome Of Rock with Orange Goblin, but in outstanding music videos. Again, their plan was to present the new work at the cinema Moviemento in Linz, to give the animations by Studiogold the right space. But due to the conditions, the premiere had to be online via Electirc Fire Records (Vulvarine, Liquid Earth, Torpedo Torpedo, Great Rift, Dusk) and Chat Noir Agency.
In the teaser to „True“, the stroboscope effect flashes already through the valley and soul. Still the song opens quietly, with soft guitar tones and strings. As the full line up begins, the power is from comparable strong Post Hardcore and Metal acts like Harakiri for the sky or Canvas. Big growls push further and the guitar descant make it mighty like „Slanderous“ from the critically acclaimed „The Blackening“.
The musical arrangement now has the optical pendant in the lyric video by Studiogold. Lines, shapes and light accompany the noises. Images like a skyline, river stones and human silhouettes make the spiral rewind. The stroboscope light makes one feel like a transparent body under X-ray, as the iris of big brother or in this case sister is watching.
„True“ is the second song from „2084“, inspired by „1984“ by George Orwell, a topic as present as can be. The camera is spying while the heart in the form of a moving network is pumping and screaming, like the typography and the only coloured word being „critical“.
