The Joy of Heavy Metal at its Fullest

Anvil, Killer, Spirit War

Pounding The Past Tour presented by Rock Hard, Timeframe Booking and more at Weberknecht Wien, Austria 20261027

This fresh Tuesday in October, Dÿse brings the Noise- and The Sisters of Mercy the Gothic Rock to Vienna. For fans of Heavy Metal, the way leads to Weberknecht, where Mo Cess & Chrisfader or Sheer Terror played recently and likes of Moritz Molnar, Nasty, Ignea or Kora Winter will appear soon.

Tonight’s show starts with the support band Spirit War from France. „Just For One Night“ or „So Cold“ from „Beyond Frontiers“, they released about a year ago, stand next to others like „No Mind’s Land“ or „Never Give Up“. It is a fantastic and friendly show, that is hard to beat already, or how a visitor puts it: ‚Usually I want to go to smoke during a gig, but not during this one!‘ Could not agree more, as there is no second to miss.

The second of the three trios is Killer from Belgium, who are here to bring „Shock Waves“. (Early) highlights are „Argus Eyes“ or especially the slow Blues „Making Magic“. As they started in 1980, they switch between old („Backshooter“) and new material („The Grand Finale“). Solos must not be missing, as the Weberknecht is crowded to the stairs in the back, where bassist Jakke passes through, so everybody is ready for „Pounding The Past“ with the Canadian headliner.

This is where Anvil’s singer and guitarist Lips begins – right in the audience! They shared the stage with bands like AC/DC and where „Pounding the Pavement“ in 2019. But back in 1973, they began writing music. Videos got banned, still singer Lips is ‚in for peace‘. He remembers hanging 24 hours on tour with Lemmy, having ‚no sleep ’til Hammersmith‘.

With co-founder Robb Reiner and longtime member Chris Robertson, they go through history and songs like „666“, „School Love“ and „Forged In Fire“. Ending with „Metal On Metal“, the fan’s heart is filled with joy – and the merchandise table ready with tour shirts and much more.
