Christians Deny Us

Behemoth, Satyricon, Rotting Christ

The Unholy Trinity Tour presented by Mind Over Matter Music at Planet TT Raiffeisen Halle Gasometer Wien, Austria 20250404

Are you scared of the dark? Or the devil’s trident? The Unholy Trinity Tour? It looks like some are, because as the fans in dark clothes gather around the Gasometer, they are welcomed by some christians at the underground station. With signs and a megaphone, they pray for the lost souls. And it already happened, that a Black Metal band (Reverorum ib Malacht) converted to Catholicism. But basically it appears, that they will never understand this music nor its healing effects.

The line-up of The Unholy Trinity Tour is the who-is-who of the European Extreme guild. Even though there is a queue almost reaching the crossing, it is possible to enter in time for Rotting Christ, thanks to the quick and routined admission. The group with the shirt nailing ‚since 1989‘ brings in the atmosphere, even though it is too bright in the hall. But the sound is good and the room crowded already, as the solos come down the stage of the number of the beast or the new „Like Father, Like Son“ from „Pro Xristou“.

Then ravens rise in the truest sense of the word on the backdrop of Satyricon. The band around Satyr and Frost (also 1349) appears as six-piece and ignites a firework of hits starting with „Now, Diabolical“ and „Our World, It Rumbles Tonight“. As choir, they include the audience, and remember the last time, they visited the city during their „Deep Calleth Upon Europe Tour 2017“. To top off a very beautiful set, they serve „King“.

Several visitors with corpse-paint give an indication of the headliner: Behemoth not only added toilette paper to their merchandise, but hang Christ upside down on a crucifix upon stage. The light draws silhouettes of the microphone stands on the carpet before the start and after a short snippet of „The Shadow Elite“ video, the black mass begins. Fires form crosses as well, as bandmembers stand on platforms.

Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel“ or the new „The Shit ov God“ animate crowdsurfers. ‚Look around! I call it magic.‘, Nergal asserts and that ‚Black Metal has never been that big before.‘ They „Conquer All“ and after 35 years play the very first song „Cursed Angel of Doom“.

It is a big show for the people at Planet TT hall. And Mind Over Matter have more coming up at the very place with Amyl And The Sniffers, Arch Enemy or Saltatio Mortis and many others like The Picturebooks, Swallow The Sun, QOTSA, Kerry King, Atreyu or coldrain at different venues..
