One Big Shot Compressed Stadium

Black River Delta, Andrea Bignasca

Vol. II Release Tour 2018 presented by Karsten Jahnke Konzertdirektion and Barracuda Music, Chelsea Vienna, Austria 20180423

Bigger cities like Vienna got a lot of concerts. So sometimes it is not easy to keep the overview. Blogs like wienkonzert or Volume Injection can help. Or newsletters. And then it can happen that the name of a band just sounds very nice, and their sound as well so you suddenly feel you just have to see them.

Arriving to the Chelsea, the excitement is growing who or how the support act will be. A friendly guy passes by already at the entry, and shortly later enters the stage: Andrea Bignasca from the Italian speaking part of Switzerland knows “how to stutter some German”. And better he knows how to sing, play guitar and bass drum. With songs from mangy to soft to something like Stadium rock, his rough voice even can remind one of Bono at some point. Especially his a cappella tune gives you goosebumps. And when he asks if people in Vienna are shy, turning around you realize: The Chelsea is fully crowded.

Perfect circumstances for Black River Delta. The first association for this band was The Black Keys! And there are more who got this connection. Their music contains elements of all, Blues, Rock, Country, Indie, AOR, you name it. Maybe the connection also comes from the great voice(s), or the powerful slower rock tunes like “Follow You Down”. Beautiful ballads garnish the set as well as solo and bottleneck sliding parts. At the end, Andrea sings with them again, turning out his rockstar side. An awesome show for a crowd consisting of kids as well as older Rockers, who all seem to be in a great mood this night. Might be because of a band that could be one of the very big groups in the future.
