Original Energy Banned On Tape
Blue Sunday Group, Churchpenny Allstars
„Rain“ Album Release Show, Aera Wien, Austria 20220813
Instead of heading to the 11th district to see Limp Bizkit, this Saturday our way leads us to the first one. Right next to U4 station Schottenring, the Café Aera invites to have a drink outside first, before the stage in the basement is waiting already. Stickers of bands like Brewtality, Go! Go! Gorillo, Manic Youth and Franz Fruexe are silent witnesses, as True Peak Sounds is responsible for the great live mix this night.
Tunes from Santa Esmeralda and The Who ring in the live action. Since their concert at the Tunnel, Churchpenny Allstars played several gigs and have been working on new music. They keep the tradition of Rival Sons mixed with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and consorts alive and convince with an outstanding performance as always. Songs like „Boogeyman“ and „Spin My Dolly“, which they dedicate to singer Wolli from the main act, they deliver with ease. And as encore, they add „Underwaterman“ and „Drink So Fast“.
For the Blue Sunday Group (not to confuse with the Blue Monday Blues Band), the evening marks the (tape) release of their debut „Rain“. The album and promotion, they developed in cooperation with Tracklinking Studios and Max Osagiede. On the artwork, Johanna Wakolbinger implented the fish of the logo in an atmosphere of Edward Hopper, reminding of a scene from the Clifton cartoons. BSG meld G’n’R / Led Zeppelin Hard Rock with Pearl Jam / Alice In Chains Grunge and a pinch of Southern Metal like Boundary. They pepper their set with several covers like „Dani California“, „Woman“ or later „Come Together“ and with the quote „And now for something completely different“ they unpack the acoustic guitar.
Both bands are out to conquer the world of Rock music with their original music and energy, what they underline with this splendid release party. And as candy, the aftershow is hosted by vinyl only DJ Dan the Head.
