2 Big To Rig (2026)

Ghost

Concert Film, Hollywood Megaplex Gasometer Wien, 202608626

The concert movie feels like a forgotten fromat. Yet in times of touring difficulties, it is a great opportunity to (re-)watch a certain show cicle. So cinemas worldwide open their doors this late summer, offering merchandise for another era of Occult Rock celebration.

In Austria, from Innsbruck over Linz and St. Pölten to Wienerberg and Hollywood Megaplex at Gasometer, rouged people gather. Ghost have captured their Skeletour that led them from Prague to CDMX like „Rite Here Right Now“. While singer Tobias Forge thinks about the future and is featured on the Accept re-recording, „Titanic“ and „Mama Mia“ Abba tracks shorten the waiting for „2 Big To Rig“ to begin.

As the tour was about the album „Skeletá“, it opens with „Peacefield“ and „Lachryma“. This already displays an early intimate moment of the Mexican fans with a kiss. Unfortunatley, one show at the captial got cancelled due to the ‚curse of montesuma‘. ‚The dark fascist regime might be gone‘, the lyrics tell in „The Future Is A Foreign Land“.

Compared to the live experience, there are more details to see and to learn: the lighting cross weighs seven tons, the whole setup about 62 tons. 106 people are in the crew, 150 more locals needed. Behind and on stage, there are jokes all around. Close to the end, shots from Teotihuacán and Museo de Frida Kahlo are shown, next to the happy fans.

Shot with Kodak, the movie has got the Super-16mm grain. „Umbra“, „He Is“, „Monstrance Clock“ and „Square Hammer“ are just few highlights. As mobiles were blocked during the tour, it is fantastic to see all of the show, fan dedication and emotions on the big screen again. So compared to the real live deal, the only pity is to be sitting.

Apart from that, „2 Big To Rig“ greatly reflects the Ghost live experience. The title comes from a statement made by a technician. And the soundtrack album is just right out there as well.
