Treasure Trove (Single 2021)
Kaja Kalea
Lotuspop
There’s a lot going on in the (online) music world at the end of Febuary. While Glue Crew with HRST, F63.8 and Sona Fest provide performances on the web, Stam1na, Yunger, DeeCRACKS and Ewig Frost put out new music. And Bianca Ortner of Melody Current and Intra, who collaborated with Prototyper, presents her new project too.
For the promotion of the Single “Treasure Trove” by Kaja Kalea, she gets support by Rola Music. Compared to the Heavy Rock of Intra, she follows quieter paths with this formation, entitling the music ‘Lotuspop’. It is a well-arranged tune, that holds up high the voice and positive nostalgia.
The song starts with softly plucked chords before the cool entry of the rhythm section. The singing partly reminds of other great vocalists like Jessie Ware or Tash Sultana. A pre-chorus then leads to the first calm refrain. Some strumming in the second one strengthens the country folk impression in a relaxed way like Kate Stapley or World’s Worst Poet.
In the bridge, the harmony changes, with the “desire to return to a perfect life that never was”. The conclusion comes with the final chorus. While the piano gives more Pop vibes to it like Sportfreunde Stiller, the general drive can be found in likes of Slade, Rival Sons, especially Chickenfoot and more heavy examples Monster Magnet or Deaf Rat.
All this evolution is accompanied by an atmospheric music video. For Intra, the team around Michael Winiecki and Chris Eberle took care of the visual part, and this one is brought to you by Reyhoon Film & Media. As location, they picked the ruin of Reichenau, walls of solitude as in Tosters or Oslo.
The sun-dappled, foggy and mystic place combined with the warm song simply create a comfortable mood and the feeling to know, what is the intention behind Lotuspop.
