As predicted – sold out!
Onk Lou & The Better Life Inc., Simon Lewis
Bogus Albumreleaseshow, B72, Vienna, Austria 2017-05-05
He travelled the globe, the streets were his school: Lukas Weiser first played in heavy bands before he decided to name himself Onk Lou and go solo, and now he is back with his band The Better Life Inc. and his new record called Bogus.
For the release of this life-affirming piece of music, he visits the B72 in Vienna. As support, his old friend Simon Lewis joins the line-up of the evening. He is here to warm up the audience, but in a calm way, so they can save some of the energy. Unfortunately sometimes a little bit to calm for the visitors of the B72, who really like to talk. But for those who listen closely, the big man with the gentle voice delivers an insightful performance. He tells about his life, that he moved to Kufstein in Tyrol, and about a visit of Onk Lou, when they wrote music together.
And then he makes place for his friend, and as Simon predicted, this band has got energy and gets the party rolled out. Onk Lou sometimes even reminds of the King of Pop Michael Jackson because of the singing style, but also of e.g. Joe Cocker. Like his voice, the whole sound of the band varies a lot. If you want so, you can hear musical genres from Blues Rock, 80s Pop to classic Singer-Songwriter material. Especially the first single of the new album “In The Morning” is a feel-good song straight from the book, for which the mastermind shot a music video in Havanna. Same fits for the final song of the regular set “1000 Voices”.
There would be even more to say, like that the record mixed by Treasureman is big fun live, the band, above all bassist Walter Walterson (also Symbiotika) plays amazing, “Ruthless” is wonderful, the Macy Gray cover impressive and the place sold out. End.
