Doom Metal

Many appreciators of heavy sounds might know Nürnberg as location of the Rock im Park festival with acts like Mastodon, A Perfect Circle as guests or blink-182 in 2027. But digging even lower musically, four local heroes wrote Doom Metal on their banner, releasing their debut full-length after the EP „Retreat“ and two live recordings from Hammer Of Doom.

The bandname Sauros seems just fitting for the nine mighty slow tracks on „Offense“, leaving deep marks on their way through the ear canal. Before, they already shared the stage with likes of shEver or Endonomos and got compared to Crowbar and Celtic Frost. The album artwork reminds of dystopian settings like in the „Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes“. 

So do the lyrics, talking of the ‚disintegration of society, growing lack of ethics and morals and struggles against one’s inner demons‘, similar to likes of desolat. Forged with brutal riffs and powerful singing, the Southern NOLA impact is right there from the beginning. Very classic Metal, Sludge, Hardcore and Stoner-like Sauros have to admit: „The Doomsayers Are Right“! 

‚The end is near! […] Why are we so blind?‘, they ask while offering a distorted mythical utopia for one’s mind. Black Sabbath influences might not be missing „In The End“ – or the „End of the Beginning“? Spoken words, clean vocals and growls alternate throughout the trip, as Sauros stomp their way on earth after the apocalypse. 

Drums and bass set accents and breaks. Heads nod to „Misanthropic Freedom“ like to The Obsessed. Beautiful crying melodies, close to extinction. Similar to Rötual, Sauros not only sing for the funeral of the dinosaurs. They bury the whole mankind, relieving the heavy Doom soul, bathed in riffs and drenched in tears of blood. And the skies turn grey, as doomsday tidal waves break in. And btw: ‚Fuck hate and intolerance‘, Sauros proclaim on their social account.
