A festive day of Black and Death

Vienna Metal Meeting 2024

Meetings at work are not necessarily fun whereas Metal Meetings are. So most visitors arrive early at the sold out Arena wearing Graspop or Eindhoven Metal Meeting hoodies at the Vienna Metal Meeting. 

In the past five editions, names like Irdorath, The Ruins Of Beverast, Darkfall, Gutalax, Necrophobic, Amenra, Triptykon, Samael, Primordial or Vinsta appeared. This year, two warm up shows at Viper Room feature Owls Woods Grave, Firtan and more. The big day then unites several tours: the Scherbentour and two European tours. 

Right at the beginning, the only real problem becomes apparent: not everyone can fit into small hall. So only who is early enough can attend Servant. But soon, Afsky from Denmark opens the big hall as well with an atmospheric intro followed by a bursting scream and roaring thunder of Black Metal. 

Ewïg Frost welcome their loyal fan base with songs from „No Dice“ and „Ain’t No Saint“ like „Into The Night“ and „New Cold War“, while a group gets the (circle) pit going. Across the yard, Kampfar continue the dark mass, while Schizophrenia is completely crowded again. 

The Black Death reached Norway in 1349. They bring in another beautiful set, presenting their new album „The Wolf & the King“ next to milestones from „Liberation“ or „Demonoir“, while Sinister is still full. Immolation then ring in the change to Death Metal at Arena Stage. 

Meanwhile, AOP Records take over D19 Stage with Groza accompanied by Harakiri for the sky singer J.J. and Ellende. The Thrash / Crossover highlight of the day is Municipal Waste, who will conquer North America with Kerry King and Alien Weaponry soon. 

Headliner of the day are Cannibal Corpse, who have a new album „Chaos Horrific“ as well since their last show in March 2023. The final three after are ArsGoatia featuring ex-members of OSDOU, Kringa from Upper Austria and Suisse ambient masters Darkspace closing this feast day.
