Do You Wanna – Indie Art Punk?

Bonaparte, Bleach

20 Jahre Bonaparte presented by Spoon Agency at Arena Wien – Große Halle, Austria 20261104

Spoon Agency always has got a ton of gigs going. Currently, Endless Wellness and Steaming Satellites are touring, while Afrob & Ferris MC are up on Friday. And where the Black Parade will take place on Saturday, is the party spot for Wednesday already as well.

At the big hall of Arena, a Teletubby is spinning like the vinyls mixing tracks like Sinatra’s „My Way“ or Mass Productions „Cosmic Lust“. Support ‚rockstar drag queen‘ Bleach (like the Nirvana album) – without her band The Bumholes – does some yoga moves before the actual show.

The short set even feels shorter through various changes of mood, pace and outfit. Starting with Vicky Leandros, „The Revolution Is My Lover“ follows before „Cruising For Action“. A more quiet moment takes a Swedish peace song in original language and English translation and „Release (your homosexual potential)“ marks the climax.

Main act Bonaparte from Switzerland are here to celebrate twenty years of existence. They made themselves a name with crazy shows across the border at Szene Open Air 2012 or poolbar festival 2014 alongside Shout Out Louds, Bilderbuch, Gerard, The Dandy Warhols, Maximo Park, HIM, Ja, Panik, The Subways, Kadavar and more.

This history makes it a nostalgic evening too, but with a lot of fun energy from the very first second with „Anti Anti“ or „Wir sind keine Menschen“. Every second not paying attention because of dancing, something else happens on or in front of the stage. Changing people and outfits again, inflated condoms in the air and a huge birthday cake in the middle.

Still, Bonaparte manage to calm down a bit as well, singing with the audience and playing musical chairs as birthday-game. Personal highlight is „Ego“ from „Too Much“, as they conduct their fans to the final encore „Good Things“ (will find you in the end).
