Spiritual, Celestial, Majestical, Biblical
Oasis at Estadio GNP, Mexico City, Mexico 20250913
September 12th. The city had shown signs of what was about to come for days. The Gallagher brothers are back in town after 17 years. In a city of 22 million people, you get to see an Oasis fan wherever you are.
This seemed to be Biblical. I got tickets for the next day, but my excitement is just as big as it was the day before at Manchester. Friends had organized Oasis-themed parties. The expectations are up in the sky.

September 13th. This is it. I saw mixed reviews and comments from the previous day’s show. Some sound issues, complaints about the crowd energy, and so on. I gotta be honest, I got worried. I had been anticipating this show for about a year. I know my Mexican fellows. We are intense, we are passionate to the point of crying. I didn’t want to believe it. So, I kept my chin up; if anything was missing from the previous show, this date we would bring it to the stadium and show them, Oasis, the greatest rock band, that we are worthy of their visit in this amazing tour.
The weather forecast wasn’t that promising, though. Apparently, the tributes paid to Tlaloc (Aztec God of rain) weren’t enough. The schedule marked that the doors would be open by 17 hours, it was 18 hrs, and we were still on a queue outside the venue, rumor had it that the stadium was flooded. It started raining heavily, and we weren’t even inside the stadium, and we were already soaked. Time passed, squishy steps from damped shoes, and we are finally in. I thought to myself, “ok, this is it. It’s going to happen, for a third time I will see them, but I’m with MY people, MY REALS. Let’s do this”.
The time was precise, regardless of the entry delay. The sky was still dark and started raining again. By then, nothing mattered but the show. Raincoats were useless; only music could bring us to life.
With an electrifying energy, like the thunders striking above us on the queue to enter, Cage the elephant warmed our soaking bones, hit after hit from their repertoire.
No need to change the more than wet clothing, the warmth of an over excited crowd got us to the point to forget the cold.
Cage did exactly what they were meant to do. Warm the crowd literally and figuratively.
Shake Me Down described it better, -Even on a cloudy day…- we were still looking to the positive sides of life, of our day, of what was about to come.
And like in a magic act, the sky opened, no more clouds. Maybe Tlaloc has forgiven us; he would allow us to enjoy Oasis as we should.
To this day, the setlist has remained unchanged; it didn’t matter because it’s flawless. A strong start with Hello, brought us all to the heavens, -It’s good to be back- hit different that night. Personally, it is indeed good to be back, back to my country, back with my fam, back with my people, I got moved to the core. I hugged my friends as if it was the first time in decades, I couldn’t believe we were experiencing this together.
The Poznan at Cigarettes and Alcohol was Biblical (click on the link to have a glimpse of that pure madness), everyone got the idea and didn’t doubt to turn our backs to the band we were all waiting to see. If you weren’t wet by rain, it was the beer flying over us. Like water sprinkles in a hot summer, one could see beer and God-knows-what liquid flying all around and above us.

Some Might Say was particularly well received by the crowd. Noel gotta stopped himself for a bit due to the chants of 70K people -Oe! Oe! Oe! NOEL! NOEL!-, if he ever dreamed about how a football star felt when Mexican hinchas cheered for them, well, that was his moment. With a visible smile, he turned to the crowd and thanked us, dedicating the next song to the people who come from far away. People from all around the continent were present. It personally talked to me, as I’ve been living abroad for a while and only came this time to my birthplace to see them. Thanks Oasis, thanks Noel, for bringing us all back from Half The World Away.
Two more songs I remember being chanted to the last breath of our lungs were Stand by Me and Rock n’ Roll Star, which was dedicated to the birthday people. Everybody got invested in it, my people hadn’t betrayed me. The previous day’s comments were not part of that night.
During the encore, we all realized this was about to end. Time flies when you are having fun, indeed. As mentioned, the setlist had been unchanged, and we knew only four more songs were left. The band came back to the stage and the crowd roared as if it was for the first time. The Masterplan moved everybody, a perfect song to prepare us for the incoming anthems.
Before continuing with the next song, Noel asked who hadn’t been to an Oasis concert before, because this was the moment when they would get the chance to listen to 70K people singing along Don’t Look Back In Anger, honestly, I’m jealous of them, I wish I can listen to that for the first time again, and do not misinterpret me, every time is still amazing for its own reasons. For example, this time I got to sing it with my real Sebas, a magical moment by itself.
Liam borrowed the charro hat that the Cardboard Pep Guardiola was rocking. Then came the song that doesn’t need an introduction. But above all, that moment was special as I got to sing it side by side with my dad, my very own Wonderwall, practically the reason I decided to come to CDMX to see them a third time.

And to close the evening, Liam started singing Champagne Supernova. My new life highlight, hugged in a circle with all my Reals, and jumping together. “Nadie vivió champagne supernova como nosotros”, Sebas declared after the show, and I can confirm, that was our moment.
No rain, no storm could make this a bad day.
In Liam’s, aka “the mexicanoish”, own words, it was “spiritual, celestial, majestical, Biblical”.
Oasis doesn’t make songs about how bad life can get, but about how great living life is. About these moments, shared with your own, with your people, with your Reals.
Thank you all. For being here, being there, and always have been. This is for you.
Whoever is reading, you and your friends, the moment when you listen to your favorite songs, when you sing along during a party, the people who join you in your saddest and brightest days. For you. The Reals.

Special thanks to: Bobby, Erin, Gudu, Pris, Sebas, and Ale for the great company and vibes.
