Headbangers remain silent
Amenra, The Devil’s Trade
Acoustic Tour presented by TON Music Productions and NMC Live, ((szene)) Wien, Austria 20210927
Metal concerts are something extraordinary beautiful. It’s a common energy and pure passion for the music bonds the fans together. This applies to the loud and heavy performances. And to the not that usual quiet and soft ones as well.
It is the very first international gig for the organizers from TON Music Productions in a very, way too long time. But finally, the tourbus is parked down the Hauffgasse in front of the ((szene)) again. It appears like a promise, that what will happen when passing the door will be something brilliant.
The Devil’s Trade has honoured the city with his presence before and will return with Darkher and Forndom in April. Between, he joined both editions of Roadburn Festival online in 2020 and 2021. Ultimately it is time, to experience his latest work “The Call of the Iron Peak” out via Season of Mist live. He tells that “Dead Sister” actually is for his sister, who he never got to know unfortunately. And as a string of his banjo breaks, he fills in the Hungarian traditional “Három Árva”. The evening could not have started more wonderful.
That he can be on this tour with Amenra, The Devil’s Trade shows himself very thankful. The band, which is this night’s main act, recently published their new record “De Doorn” via Relapse Records. Unlike their Post Metal shows like at the Vienna Metal Meeting, they go for a stunning acoustic one this time. Standing there, watching and listening, it feels like you get rooted right there at the place. The crowd is simply fantastic, as not a single word can be heard from the ranks. An appealing light and beamer show accompanies the happening, illustrating e.g. spines, or a cathedral similar to Sibiir’s stream or Earthset’s movie. Luckily, TON are planning more events like this, for example The Fall I with likes of Karg (who appear at Dome of Rock with Anderwelt as well) or Leprous featuring Wheel.
