Look into a Mirror over me
Churchpenny Allstars, Die Biene Meier
Café Carina Wien, Austria 20260613
Certain bands are worth to watch on a regular, like yearly basis when possible. Examples could be Cadû, Ewïg Frost or The Röad Crew, or even more hard to catch Ozymandias, Mothers Of The Land or Anderwelt. But if it works out, it is worth every single visit. Just like this evening.
Right back from Nova Rock, Vienna Prog Night would happen at Reigen, like several concerts alongside the Gürtel like at Kramladen, Lucia or Loop. And at cozy Café Carina, a double feature returns like back at Seeböckgasse, while the garden provides space to watch the World Cup.
Band number one is Die Biene Meier: with seven members more like a big band similar to Liberation Orchestra, including trumpet, trombone, saxophone, kazoo and violin. They like to come up with everyday topics – or professions like managers on their EP „Gelée royale“ or chemists or how to deal with problems.
There are three ways they tell, react with anger, love or push it away, dedicating the anger to pupils at Sacre Coeur Gymnasium. Before the encore with Spice Girls Intro, they play some Blues, what leads us to Churchpenny Allstars. Lately, they played at replugged.
Now they return to Café Carina, place of first encounter 2019 where they feel like a ‘house band’ like Die Botschatn, to perform an ‚unofficial aftershow concert of the pride‘. They hit it with „Little Sparrow“, while drummer Elias’ monitoring is still not working. But the trio with Dimos on bass and Leander on guitar and vocals seemlingly knows each other so well, there could never be a problem.
So each song is a banger itself like „Boogeyman“, „Drink So Fast“ or „Make My Money“ in Blues ’n’ Funk manner. Plus they have new songs with them, presented with support from Die Biene Meier on trumpet and one even in German. At the end, they thank everyone who keeps coming back and sings along.
And more highlights at Café Carina are waiting with Cenotaph, Subcutaneous Exsanguination and Sloow, Inzeption Led Zeppelin tribute, the traditional Musicjunky Bookings anniversary, Grim Justice Live EP release and much more..
