A little critic, a little humor, a little horror
Hirngspinster, Arnold Burk
Kramladen Wien, Austria 20240712
Sometimes it is the best to start Friday evening near Josefstädter Straße. The first stop is Damenspitz, while it rains heavily outside. As the rain stops, it is time to change to Kramladen at the Gürtel, where the whole area gets filled constantly.
Last time, T.R.A.S.H. opened for Mengers. Tonight, Arnold Burk starts the show. He recently played his release concert next door at rhiz. With him are again Anna Hlavka on keys, Fabian Pollack on guitars and Michael Schatzmann on drums.
Many songs are from his debut like „Kind meiner Eltern“. Again, he includes „Leinen“ before „Parkhausdeck“ and tells, that it was too hot to think about announcements in the subway before „Minus und Minus“. Another Fainschmitz one is „Erinner“ with guitar solo and Anna singing the final words.
For „Schmetterling“, the toy monkey brings the beat and then they play a new one about hair followed by „Unten“, „Laptop“ and „Ich denk an dich“. From emotional proper German, the language changes to dialect with Hirngspinster. Their music was compared with Voodoo Jürgens and shared the stage with likes of Ivery at Club 1019.
Every show, they enrich with little gimmicks. So singer Elias Fleischer appears with makeup, two microphones, a box and knife and lamp creating an evil light. Their set includes „Gspiast Di“ and Jennifer Gitschner’s song „Muse“. After „Apropos“ the laughter therapy „Suppenfliege“ follows and „Alte Leier“ about the ‚brown dirt‘.
It is kind of a „Kabarett“, and for the last song, Elias gets out a trombone. Similar to Arnold Burk, Hirngspinster talk about serious topics and critics but with humor, plus, they add this little horror extra. On the merchandise table, they have t-shirts, posters and lino prints. And just across the street, the motto is ‚Back to the dancefloor – the 90s‘ at Weberknecht.
