Serious problems served with danceable music. Not everyone can manage this task. After relationship issues in „Hold Me Close“, „Funtastic“ takes on a geopolitical dimension, manifesting it musically, lyrically and graphically. 

Seemingly, Solar Noir like to address current (global) conditions. This time, the topic is the end of the world, caused by climate damage and blind consumption – the ignorance of humanity. Similar how Scheibsta & die Buben described the apocalypse in „Heulen Nach Athen“. 

On the single cover, Solar Noir visualized the dystopia: the sky is pure image noise. The ‚sun‘ looks like distorted water, with bandname and title as sunbeams. Core of the picture is a hand with a cigarette, burning down a line of fire in a forest. Unfortunately, this is no dystopia, but reality. 

The punky riffing brings up likes of Sum 41 or 3 Feet Smaller, taking way back to the 2000s, with little reverb and powerful sound. The guitar line plays an important role, and the same applies to the vocals. ‚Life of plastic is funtastic‘, adapted from Aqua’s „Barbie Girl“ (1997, reimagined for the movie 2023). Due to the content, the voice strikes a sharp tone, partly in several layers. 

This danceable music but with serious background, served with strong undertone can be also found in Lagwagon. Packed in light-footed Indie, more established as well as up and rising acts like My Ugly Clementine or Glut can be listed. Back in early 2025, Solar Noir captured a live version of „Funtastic“ already at Kramladen. 

Since then, they continuously publish their songs and can be found on the stage throughout the area. So hopefully, before we, the people, manage to destroy everything and the world goes down, there will be a lot more to hear (and see) from Solar Noir.
