Melankolia (Album 2026)
Stolen Kidneys
Noise Rock / Hardcore
Oulu is situated straight up north from the gulf of Finland, getting close to Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi and Midnight Sun Film Festival in Sodankylä. From there, Hardcore Noise bursts at the seams, echoing south on the date of 666: 26.06.2026, like one of the contributing labels – Bloodshed666 (AUT), next to The Ghost Is Clear (USA), minoRobscuR (GER) and Day Off Records (FRA) with distribution by Sounds of Subterrania.
„Melankolia“ is the title of the album by Stolen Kidneys. The DIY quartet started in 2009. Since then, they have released several EPs, albums and splits with Boar, Arson Under the Sea, Nikander and Grins. The new piece contents seven songs recorded and mixed at Tonehaven by Tom Brooke (Oranssi Pazuzu) and mastered at Dead Air Studios by Will Killingsworth (Orchid).
In a dark nocturnal setting, the cover photography by Pekka Ohtokangas displays a rocking horse and various household goods on the outside, like after an eviction or left to rot. So feedback opens up the record and the possible live pit, and „Melankolia“ kicks off with a bang like Rollins Band. Dissonant notes invite to mosh, and the bass is killing it like in „Piinava hiljaisuus“.
Every instrument plays its part, like the guitar in „Riemujuhla“. And Stolen Kidneys can control their speed, getting heavily slow after and even serving a groovy rhythmic Rock’n’Rolla with „Raakaa Voimaa“ with a pinch of Queens Of The Stone Age. With godparents like Neurosis or Converge, there are many more relatives in music and power like Svalbard, God Mother, Throwe or Vaataja.
Finally the title track sets a sophisticated end to „Melankolia“. A structure with choral singing and emotions like Kotiteollisuus’ „Saatanan työmaa“. The raw sound, the devastated screams, the pure, irrepressible strength form the style and album of Stolen Kidneys.
